A man from Red Deer is being searched for due to dealing weapons and other serious crimes after the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) was informed by a worried citizen about suspicious behavior at a residence.
As per a statement from Red Deer RCMP, they started examining the supposed firearms trading in January of last year. During this time, Red Deer RCMP GIS carried out a search warrant with assistance from officers, the Emergency Response Team and other units within the RCMP.
While searching, they confiscated various items, such as firearms and firearm parts, tools for creating firearms, a stolen car with an altered VIN, tools for changing the VIN of stolen vehicles, fake documents, drugs, and other illegal items.
The 2023 investigation and search led to 27 charges and a warrant being released for a man from Red Deer. Authorities verified to Global News that the accused was charged on Feb. 27, after a probe into the confiscated items pointed them to the criminal.
“This investigation is an excellent example of intelligence led policing and furthers our goals with the City of Red Deer’s policing priorities” said Inspector Heidi Ravenhill.
