Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, has joined the global celebration of women by urging them to consistently use their business skills to help the country develop.
In accordance with this year’s theme of the International Women’s Day, ‘Seizing opportunities, transforming lives’, she prompted women to utilize the great potential in the tourism sector to display their abilities, expertise, and business mindset,
In a statement on Friday, she mentioned, “This day reminds us of the priceless contributions of women to our society and marks a significant step forward in the ongoing journey toward gender equality and empowerment.
“Nigerian women have continually shown perseverance, ingenuity, and resolve in various areas of life, enriching our cultural diversity and driving progress in different fields.
“As we celebrate this day, it is essential to acknowledge and honor the accomplishments of women while also recognizing the difficulties they still encounter.
“The tourism industry covers a wide range of sectors, including hospitality, travel, leisure, and cultural heritage, where women can play crucial roles as business owners, employees, and community leaders.
“By actively engaging in tourism-related activities, women can not only earn income for themselves and their families but also facilitate sustainable development, encourage cultural exchange, and preserve our rich heritage.”
The minister affirmed that the ministry was dedicated to creating a supportive environment to assist and empower women in the tourism sector; implementing policies and programs aimed at promoting gender equality and providing access to training and capacity-building opportunities.
