As is customary, House Speaker Mike Johnson sat beside Vice President Kamala Harris during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech on Thursday. This meant that everyone watching could see the unusual pained expressions he had all evening.
We don't know exactly what those expressions meant. We think it was a kind of poker face, but even we have to admit that Johnson seemed to be constantly smirking, crying, or frowning. It didn't take away from Biden's animated performance, but it did become the subject of much speculation, debate, and some really good jokes throughout the evening.
For example, “The Daily Show,” always good for timely jokes on the platform previously known as Twitter, made a lot of fun of him.
First, a mention of the controlling behavior Johnson displays with his adopted son.
Followed by a new interpretation of the “Galaxy Brain” meme.
And then an even better adapted meme.
We don’t think Johnson looks like Eddie Haskell, but he does give off that impression.

This is pretty accurate, especially since we know Johnson uses the word “holy” a lot.
