A stranger punched Steve Buscemi in Manhattan on Wednesday, causing bruising and swelling to the actor's left eye, as per the police.
The assault happened right before noon on Wednesday. The authorities have not found the attacker yet. investigation continues.
Steve Buscemi's publicist stated, "Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of NY."
Buscemi, a renowned actor, has appeared in “The Sopranos,” “Boardwalk Empire,” and “The Big Lebowski.”
A series of unusual incidents, including attacks on celebrities walking in New York, have been reported. In March, Buscemi’s former “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was attacked while walking through Central Park.
According to the police, Xavier Israel, 27, threw a rock at Stuhlbarg, hitting him in the back of the head. Stuhlbarg chased him out of the park and Israel was arrested and charged with assault.
