The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has praised the granting of a traditional title to Governor Ademola Adeleke by the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal.
Adeleke’s Special Adviser on New and Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, announced on Monday the arrival of important people for the governor’s installation using social platform X.
In a video, he shared, “Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, arrives at the Osun State Government House before the installation of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Asiwaju of Ede.”
PDP regards the bestowal of Asiwaju of Ede Land on Adeleke as part of his 64th birthday celebrations as a strong affirmation of his leadership abilities.
Adeleke took over from his late brother and former governor of the state, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, a position he held until his death in April 2017.
This information was revealed in a statement released on Monday by the Osun State PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi.
Bisi described it as an everlasting birthday present, further evidence of Governor Adeleke's immense popularity among well-intentioned Nigerians, both at home and abroad.
“As part of the activities marking the 64th birthday of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Ede traditional council, with a unanimous agreement, conferred on His Excellency the title of Asiwaju of Ede Land.
“The title is the highest traditional honor usually reserved for men of unwavering standing in the historically rich community.
“The last time the traditional honor was given was to the governor's older brother, the late Asiwaju Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke. He was a former governor and the first democratically elected chief executive of the state.”
The PDP described Governor Ademola Adeleke as an exceptional gift to humanity, whose friendly demeanor is inspiring enough to simplify the world into greatness.
“Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke has become easily noticeable, and we are pleased his excellence is displaying this naturally ahead of time.”
“It is one thing to be naturally equipped with leadership qualities; it is another to be aware of the responsibility.
“It is also a different thing to decide what to do with such a rare gift in the competitive world of self-centeredness. We are glad Mr. Governor acknowledges the divine blessings in his life.
“We are truly proud to be associated with our great leader, Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. The world is fortunate to have you, and we are also part of that world.”
“Once again, we congratulate our people in Ede, particularly the traditional council led by Kabiyesi, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, for honoring a leader in his land.
“We support everyone who understands that great men should be recognized as such in their lifetime and should also be honored accordingly.”
The party stated that, on behalf of the State Working Committee of the PDP, we congratulate His Excellency on this historic achievement, and we also wish him a memorable birthday.
Meanwhile, as stated by Senator Olalere Oyewumi, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, conferring the Asiwaju title on Adeleke is a way to acknowledge and recognize his contribution to the progress and improvement of Ede and Osun State as a whole.
