The Nigeria Police Force has denounced the abuse of a four-year-old child, whose explicit images and videos were shared on social media, and apprehended the child’s father in relation to the incident.
This information was revealed in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and posted on X.com on Sunday.
The FPPRO expressed surprise and worry over the exploitation of the child, who had an Instagram account #officialsarah_ig, and criticized the actions.
According to him, initial investigations showed the involvement of the child’s father, who has been detained at the Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters, Edo State Police Command.
The statement stated, “The Nigeria Police Force acknowledges the public outcry in response to disturbing images and videos involving a four-year-old child with the Instagram account #officialsarah_ig, circulating on social media.
“The content portrays the young child in inappropriate poses, similar to adult contents. The Force expresses deep shock and serious concern over the apparent exploitation of this vulnerable child and strongly condemns such actions.
“Early investigations indicate the involvement of the child’s father, who has been apprehended by the police at the Auchi Divisional Police Headquarters, Edo State Police Command.
“Every necessary measure is being implemented to ensure that justice is quickly served. As the investigation unfolds, it is essential to establish proactive measures to guide and counsel parents, preventing the spread of such abnormalities in our society.”
He stressed the importance of implementing support systems for parents and guardians to protect the safety and well-being of their children.
“It is crucial for caregivers to also prioritize the security of minors and seek assistance or guidance when needed. The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding children and upholding the law,” the FPPRO added.
