On Sunday, Minister of Power Bayo Adelabu revealed that more than 10,000 households in Oyo State have received food support from the Federal Government.
According to the minister, the recipients included compound heads known as Mogajis in Ibadanland, the market association, the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, professional bodies, and students, among others.
During the presentation of the support in the state capital, Ibadan, Adelabu stated that the rice was provided by President Bola Tinubu to relieve people's suffering and enhance their well-being.
He clarified that the president is aware of the challenges faced by Nigerians and assured them that the difficulty is temporary, as citizens will continue to experience the benefits of his administration.
Adelabu said, "President Tinubu has chosen to give us our portion in this state.
"The support is not politically biased but is part of good governance.
"We will ensure the distribution is fair and covers all religious, traditional, ethnic associations, and residents of the state. That's why we decided to make it transparent.
"I encourage people to keep supporting the Tinubu administration. All we ask from you is your ongoing prayers for guidance from God and to help us reach our goals.
"This is the first phase of food security under Tinubu's renewed hope agenda. We will continue to distribute regularly, and we won't hoard the supplies received from Abuja; we will distribute them."
