The Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako, has urged all Yewa people of Ogun State to collaborate to achieve the difficult political goal
The minister said this while speaking at the 8th Distinguished Lecture Series, “Yewas Talk” organized by the Yewaland Development Forum at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja Lagos on Saturday.
The topic of the lecture was ‘Yewaland: Harvesting our Potential and Opportunities towards 2027 and Beyond.’
Salako stressed the importance for the Yewa people to establish connections and understanding across all the social and political differences to reach their governorship goal in 2027.
He said, “Elections are not won by emotions or bravado but through hard work, strategic planning, and presenting the right candidate.”
Salami also observed that despite their enormous potential, a lack of strategic planning had hindered Ogun West's governorship aspiration.
He remarked, “As the gateway to Ogun State, an average Ogun State citizen desires a Yewa man as Ogun State governor but unfortunately, we have not been able to properly utilize these potential and opportunities to achieve our goal.”
The event was attended by top politicians, government officials, business leaders, technocrats, professionals, traditional rulers, and Yewa indigenes. It also witnessed the appointment of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as Grand Patron of the Pan Yewa socio-cultural organization.
