A leader of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has advised Nigerians to have patience and hope for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The party leader described Tinubu as a sincere democrat who is diligently working to fulfill all his promises to improve the lives of the citizens.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Sunday, Oyinloye acknowledged that Nigerians are currently facing economic challenges.
The government defended the removal of the fuel subsidy, among other policies, stating that it was necessary for economic growth.
Oyintiloye, a former state legislator, observed that the various economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and unification of the naira, may have caused some discomfort, but they will ultimately contribute to building a stronger foundation for a prosperous Nigeria.
He stated, “Nigerians are undoubtedly experiencing tough times, but this is not intentional nor a sign of failure on the part of the President.
“In order for us to have a prosperous Nigeria, we must be willing to make sacrifices, and that is what is currently happening.
“President's intention is for the good of Nigerians. He has no intention of deliberately causing pain to Nigerians.
The APC leader added that “all the economic policies implemented by the President causing hardships are aimed at strengthening our economy.
“Don’t lose hope in the President. He will do better and will keep improving the welfare of Nigerians.
The APC leader expressed that the various measures the President has undertaken are necessary to revive the country’s economy, with a focus on key areas such as improving agricultural practices, establishing a robust marketing system, providing quality healthcare, enhancing education, improving electricity, and fighting corruption.
“The government will continue to bolster our economy by investing in industries, promoting local production, and developing the agricultural value chain, which will reduce our reliance on imports and crude oil,” he said.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, appealed to leaders of opposition parties to refrain from making statements and narratives that could divide the country.
He commented, “Opposition should be patriotic enough to avoid making statements that could incite chaos in the country. President Tinubu has good intentions and is working hard to transform Nigeria.
“The criticism of the coastal highway initiative by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is just one of many remarks capable of creating animosity among Nigerians.
“Even as members of the opposition party, they should carefully examine the information available to them and ensure that they are not fomenting division among Nigerians as unity is currently crucial for our country.
