EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Double Super Bowl champion Chris Snee is returning to the New York Giants as a senior scout in the personnel department.
General manager Joe Schoen announced the hiring on Friday, along with two promotions. Nick La Testa was promoted from pro scout to assistant director of pro scouting and Charles Tisch transitioned from a football operations assistant to the manager of football administration.
Snee was an exceptional high school player at Montrose High School who later played guard in the NFL. The four-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the franchise’s Ring of Honor will be involved in both college and pro scouting.
“I’m extremely thrilled about it,” Snee said. “I’m a Giant, and I always have been, despite having worn Jaguars attire for four years when I scouted there. Everyone knows my heart has always been here. This is where I feel like I belong and where I want to be, and I’m going to come in and work extremely hard.”
Snee, 42, started his post-playing career in 2017 as a scout for Jacksonville, initially assessing college players exclusively before adding the pros, with a focus on offensive linemen. He joined the Jaguars when Tom Coughlin – the Giants’ head coach throughout his career – joined the team as an executive vice president of football operations. He is Coughlin’s son-in-law.
Snee spent the previous two years at Boston College, his alma mater, nurturing players and assessing high school talent.
Snee was the Giants’ second-round draft pick in 2004, the same day the team acquired Eli Manning in a first-round trade. He started all 141 regular-season games and 11 postseason games, with the championships coming in the 2007 and ‘11 seasons. Snee missed 19 games in his 10 seasons, including 13 in 2013, his final year in uniform.
