The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, stated that the happiness and well-being of his troops are extremely important to him in carrying out his duties as the Defence chief.
Musa shared this during a media briefing on Saturday at a special volleyball game held to honor Prince Harry and Meghan, who are currently in Nigeria at the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff.
He mentioned that he invited Prince Harry to Nigeria to honor wounded soldiers and veterans who have shown bravery and dedication in serving their country.
Musa pointed out that this event serves as a way to honor these individuals as well as to show global recognition for their sacrifices.
He explained, "These individuals have given their all to ensure the unity of Nigeria. They have families and dependents, but we will not allow their situation to keep them down."
He stated, "For me, it is very important for the morale of my soldiers. I cannot work if my soldiers are not happy, and I will do whatever it takes to ensure their happiness."
He emphasized, "This is why we are acknowledging their efforts, commending them, and appreciating the sacrifices they are making."
He reassured everyone that the Nigerian armed forces are dedicated to investing in the Invictus Games, which started in 2014.
However, he questioned why Nigeria had delayed participating in the games and promised that the Nigerian team would build up the capacity of the personnel to continue winning honors for the country.
He also encouraged the injured soldiers and veterans who took part in the novelty game.
NAN remembers that the visitors had a closed door meeting with the CDS after visiting a school in Wuse Abuja upon their arrival on Friday.
Later, they went to 44 Army Reference Hospital Kaduna, where they interacted with wounded soldiers receiving treatment.
In Kaduna, they also met with Governor Uba Sani and top government officials.
