The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, said that the Schemes of Service of Polytechnics in Nigeria would soon be made available.
Yemi-Esan made this statement in Abuja on Thursday when she met with the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Bugaje in her office.
She mentioned that the scheme of service for polytechnics will be released soon, with the exception of one area that is still being discussed.
The Head of Service, who expressed satisfaction with the working relationship with the NBTE, pledged that the Public Service Institute of Nigeria would soon begin the process of accrediting its courses with the NBTE.
She disclosed that funds have already been provided for the accreditation of courses at two of the six Federal Training Centres, with efforts underway to ensure that all FTCs have full accreditation with NBTE.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Prof. Idris Bugaje, expressed gratitude to the HoSF for approving levels one to six out of the nine levels of the National Skills Qualification.
Bugaje noted that this action has placed Nigeria on the global skills landscape, for which they are grateful.
The NBTE boss referred to the HOSF as the “Mother of Skills in Nigeria” for her vital role in ensuring the approval of NSQ levels one to six at the National Council on Establishment meeting.
He said her action would have a lasting impact on the historical development of skills in Nigeria.
He also appealed for the timely release of the Schemes of Service for Polytechnics, indicating that the long wait is negatively affecting the system and industrial harmony in the Polytechnics, and that is why they are requesting it to be released promptly.
