After working together on the upcoming documentary “The Blue Angles,” Glen Powell is currently in discussions to act in JJ Abrams' next movie, according to TheWrap.
No agreement has been made and no storyline details have been disclosed, but Powell is reportedly the top choice for the role according to Abrams.
If the agreement goes through, it will add to Powell’s already busy schedule. Earlier on Wednesday, it was announced that the “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Anyone But You” star will join Anthony Mackie and Academy Award winner Laura Dern in “Monsanto,” the upcoming film from writer/director John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side,” “Saving Mr. Banks”). It will be produced by Rocket Science.
Powell also stars in “Hit Man,” which he co-wrote with director Richard Linkater and also produced. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will be available on Netflix in June after a theatrical release this month. He’ll also be seen later this summer in the sequel to the 1996 film.Twisters,”
This movie will be Abrams' first directorial project since 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”
