Buc-ee’s, which is based in Texas, is thinking about opening a new store in a different state.
Buc-ee’s has sent a proposal proposal to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, to start a new location, as per Flatland, a non-profit Kansas City news source.
The proposal contains a map of the potential layout, design, and initial plans for the site close to the northeast corner of 110th Street and Interstate 70.
If it gets approval, the large gas station-convenience store would be positioned near the Kansas Speedway, Hollywood Casino, Bass Pro Shops, a future Margaritaville Hotel, and a proposed Mattel-themed amusement park.
The Unified Government planning staff will determine if there is enough public infrastructure available for the suggested site before the project is reviewed by the city’s planning commission on June 10, reported stated Dallas Business Journal.
The famous southern chain currently has nearly 50 locations in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Kentucky, Colorado, and Missouri. Texas has the highest number of stores, with 35 locations throughout the state.
The “always open” store holds two world records. It currently possesses the world’s biggest convenience store in Sevierville, Tennessee, at 74,707 square feet. Additionally, it has the world’s longest car wash in Katy, Texas, with 255 feet of conveyor.
In 2022, Buc-ee’s revealed the expansion of a Fort Worth location with a new 5,647 square-foot car wash, originally supposed to be completed by August 2023. Even though there were delays, the project looks to be back on track, as previously reported by reported by The Dallas Express..
The company prides itself on having the “world’s cleanest restrooms,” along with various fuel types and charging stations for electric vehicles.
The typical Buc-ee’s reportedly has about 250 employees. The store's general managers have the potential to earn over six figures.
The company has gained a dedicated following of fans who travel long distances to see the cherished beaver logo in person.
Buc-ee’s has declined to give details about its plans for the Kansas City location, according to a report by Flatland.
