The House of Representatives Thursday asked the Central Bank of Nigeria to withdraw the circular instructing banks to start applying a 0.5 percent cybersecurity levy on electronic transactions in the country, The Nation reports.
The request to stop and adjust the implementation of the cybersecurity levy was raised by Kingsley Chinda, the representative for the Obio/Akpor Constituency.
The House urged the CBN to retract the circular and provide a clearer one, as Chinda highlighted the diverse interpretations of the CBN directive compared to the Cybersecurity Act's specifications.
