She recalled, “One of the incidents that shaped my life is I was always at the bottom of the class. We were 52 in the class and I came (ranked) 52nd position. I had always been a smart person because I bought a Tipex to change the five and leave the two.
“But when I got home and showed my parents my report card and they saw what I did, they beat the hell out of me.
“My mother did not spare my behind because she was frustrated and she gave it to me. The same woman wakes me up at the midnight and tells me ‘Omotoke o de dide ko ka iwe re’ (meaning: Omotoke get up and read your book)”
She also praised her mother for supporting her through her difficult times.
She expressed gratitude for being uplifted by God and thanked her mother for never giving up on her.
