Sunrise Airways, the primary airline in Haiti, is expanding its network to include Dominica in the Caribbean.
Starting on May 25th, the airline will use its twin-turboprop EMB-120 aircraft to connect Antigua, Dominica, Saint Kitts, and Saint Lucia.
The aim is to enhance regional connections and offer travelers better access to these attractive places, with a maximum capacity of 30 passengers.
Punch Online confirmed this on Wednesday based on the announcement on the Airways website.
The new flights will run every day except Tuesday, with two daily flights from Antigua to Dominica and Saint Kitts, and one daily flight from Antigua to Saint Lucia.
Sunrise Airways is currently the only commercial flight between Haiti and Miami, operating from the international airport in Cap-Haïtien to avoid the gang violence in the capital, Port-au-Prince.
Expanding into the Eastern Caribbean is the airline’s largest growth so far.
CEO and chairman Philippe Bayard said, “We at Sunrise Airways have valued every new route we’ve opened over the 12-year history of our airline.”
“But this latest expansion is especially significant as it extends the mission we began in the Western Caribbean, to better connect our islands under our One Caribbean concept, to the Eastern Caribbean in the biggest way yet,” he added.
He described the expansion as the “beginning of a new era for intra-regional air travel in the Eastern Caribbean.”
“Each new route represents a chapter in our journey, but this expansion signals the start of a new period in intra-regional air travel,” Bayard stated, emphasizing the profound impact of the endeavor.
Highlighting the convenience and flexibility for travelers, Bayard explained the appeal of the two daily flights between Antigua, Dominica, and St. Kitts, envisioning a seamless combination of relaxation and exploration for passengers.
The two daily flights between Antigua, Dominica, and St. Kitts offer great flexibility for travelers,” Bayard explained.
“Additionally, our new Antigua-St. Lucia service is the only direct link between these two popular tourist destinations, opening up exciting possibilities for multi-island adventures. Imagine enjoying the beautiful beaches of Antigua one day, and then experiencing the volcanic scenery of St. Lucia the next. Sunrise Airways makes this dream a reality!” the announcement noted.
Sunrise Airways’ expansion in the Eastern Caribbean follows its announcement in October 2023 of its first-ever flights to/from Miami. The airline also operates in an additional 12 locations across six Caribbean and Central American destinations – Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Panama City, and St. Maarten.
