The Delta State Police command has cautioned the public about the risks of generator fumes and advised them to be cautious.
This alert follows an event where a mother and son passed away while using a generator inside their home during a rainstorm.
As per a statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on X.com on Wednesday, the mother and son passed away two days ago in Asaba, the state capital, while the daughter is currently receiving care at a nearby hospital.
The statement stated, "Generator fumes are perilous. It is lethal!!!
“A mother and son died in Asaba two days ago, while her daughter is currently receiving care at the hospital.
“What occurred? While the generator was operational, it began raining, so they relocated the generator inside the house and continued to use it.
“Regrettably, they fell asleep, and that's how they perished due to suspected generator emissions (carbon monoxide), while her daughter was taken to the hospital.
“This is not the first time we have encountered this incident in Delta. It's crucial that we are aware, learn, and enlighten others”
