Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt is the main speaker at a fundraiser for veterans in Iowa organized by the GOP. The event will feature a motorcycle ride and a hog roast.
The yearly fundraising event called Roast and Ride, led by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA), traditionally attracts leading presidential candidates in effort to gather funds for veterans. Hunt (R-TX), an Army veteran who flew Apache helicopters in Iraq, will have a prominent role as a speaker.
“I am privileged to be part of the 2024 Roast and Ride in Des Moines with Senator Joni Ernst and other devoted patriots,” Hunt shared with The Dallas Express. “Iowa has become my second home. From marrying the love of my life, Emily, who was born and raised in Maquoketa, to having the honor of traveling the state in 2023 and 2024 on behalf of President Trump, I have come to call the people of Iowa my friends and neighbors.”
The event is scheduled for June 1 and will kick off with a motorcycle ride before a barbeque pig roast for attendees.
“I am excited to hit the road with liberty-loving conservatives who are enthusiastic about reclaiming our country this November,” Hunt conveyed to The Dallas Express.
The event aims to support the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation.
Hunt has been representing Texas’ 38th congressional district since 2023.
Ernst is the first female combat veteran to be elected to the Senate.
The Roast and Ride saw participation from multiple Republican presidential candidates last year, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina.
