ABC has decided to turn 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' into a series for the 2024-25 season. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin from The Home Edit will host the reality TV show.
Similar to the original series, this new version of 'EM:HE' will feature Shearer and Teplin teaming up with builders from Taylor Morrison to create custom homes for families in need, paying close attention to every detail.
Ty Pennington presented the original series on ABC for nine seasons from 2004-2012. A revival with Jesse Tyler Ferguson aired on HGTV for one season in 2020.
As in the past, this remake will focus on the participants' touching family stories. The network aims to not only transform their homes but also their way of life.
Shearer and Teplin, founders of the Home Edit brand, previously hosted the Netflix series 'Get Organized With The Home Edit' for two seasons from 2020-22. They have also written three New York Times bestsellers and developed various home and organizational products.
'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' is produced by Endemol Shine North America and Hello Sunshine in association with Walt Disney Television Alternative. Shyam Balsé is the showrunner and executive producer, and the team includes executive producers Sharon Levy and Michael Heyerman from Endemol Shine North America, Reese Witherspoon, Sara Rea, and Cassie Lambert Scalettar from Hello Sunshine, and Molly Sims.
'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' will be shown on ABC in the 2024-25 season, and new episodes will be available for streaming on Hulu the following day.
