The Nigeria Football Federation explained that Finidi George's successful coaching history earned him the position as the new Super Eagles manager.
Following his leadership in two international friendlies in March, Finidi was appointed as the main coach of the team by the Glass House.
He won the job over Emmanuel Amuneke and others.
NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, highlighted Finidi's experience as an assistant to Portuguese manager, Jose Peseiro, as a key factor.
Olajire, from Hotsports, stated, "I can see a lot of positives around Finidi George.
He mentioned Finidi's successful transition from player to coach and his achievements in a short coaching career.
Olajire also emphasized Finidi's 20-month stint as an assistant to Jose Peseiro, working closely with the Super Eagles during the AFCON qualifications and tournament.
Olajire acknowledged Finidi's accomplishments and close involvement with the Super Eagles, especially with crucial matches approaching.
He also praised Finidi's choice to start his coaching career with the Aba Elephants in Nigeria.
Olajire praised Finidi's decision to return to Nigeria and start coaching in the NPFL, despite having the option to remain in Spain and work with a second tier club.
He highlighted Finidi's successful start with Enyimba, winning the league title in the second season and being on track to retain it in the third season.
Olajire commended Finidi for his achievements, indicating that it demonstrates his expertise.
With less than five weeks before the crucial World Cup qualifying fixtures against South Africa, Finidi is expected to guide the team after the opening day's draw to Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
