The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, has started sending motorcycles and personnel to remote areas in the country's capital.
According to the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, this move is meant to assist security response operations and the police's fight against bandits.
Adeh also mentioned that the deployment of the motorcycles and personnel began on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Adeh explained, "You may remember that recently, the Honorable Minister, FCT, Nyesom Wike, gave 30 motorcycles to the command to support the security and safety of residents. This support is not just for the city but also for remote and rural communities in the nation's capital where bandits and kidnappers have been hiding lately."
"The motorcycles, painted in police colors, are deployed to help quickly respond to communities and areas that vehicles may have difficulty reaching when needed."
In appreciation of the Minister's support, CP Ben Igweh promised to make good use of the equipment to ensure the safety and security of FCT residents.
He also encouraged residents to stay alert and use the police emergency lines to report any suspicious activities.
