The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released an additional 531 results of the recently conducted Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, bringing the total number of released results to 1,842,897.
This information is included in a statement by Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor of the Board, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Benjamin mentioned that the Board has continued to review over 64,000 withheld results due to instances of examination misconduct.
He stated, “During the process, an additional 11 cases of examination misconduct were identified, bringing the total to 92 from the initial 81 discovered.
He further clarified that the Board is also addressing cases of unverified candidates and will soon announce a decision.
He added that the Board has become aware of misleading reports claiming that an unknown candidate, who did not take the Board’s 2024 UTME, obtained scores.
Benjamin condemned this as fake and malicious, aiming to undermine the Board's integrity, and urged the public to ignore such reports.
He mentioned that the publication making such a serious accusation lacks specific details of the candidate for proper verification.
The Board is not surprised by this, as it is the season of mischief makers who try to deceive naive candidates.
“The Board's examination template is designed with the utmost responsibility and is not a platform for distributing scores to candidates.
It is very unfortunate that anyone could believe such a story or that the story could gain traction given the Board's integrity.
This again proves the Board's position that candidates should refrain from sharing their confidential details with third parties,
He mentioned that in investigating some of these allegations, the Board found that some of these troublemakers copied results sent to other candidates.
“They then modify the details sent to them and present this as coming from the Board.
“The Board challenges any candidate, parent, or anyone with such a claim to disprove it by providing the details of such claims and the phone number through which such results were delivered,
He mentioned that this development will prompt the Board to further enhance the process of checking its results to make it more personalized.
Benjamin said it will be strict when it needs to be a simple process.
“The Board reaffirmed that neither its results nor any of its processes have been compromised.
“Therefore, it will continue to safeguard the integrity of its systems against such malicious individuals who are determined to create confusion where there is none,
Benjamin stated that the Board will introduce additional features such as registration numbers to the existing UTME result-checking process in the future to make it harder for anyone to alter.
He advised candidates to securely protect their details and warned that if they were found associating with any of these mischievous individuals, they would be treated as accomplices.
The JAMB spokesman mentioned that the way to check the 2024 UTME result is still by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019, and not by any other means.
He stated that the result is currently not available on the Board’s website.
Last week, the Board released the results for the 2024 UTME but specified that around 64,000 results are still being investigated.
