Bob Iger announced on Disney earnings call that the output of Marvel Studios will decrease from four movies a year to two or at most three, along with about two TV series a year.
This is a change from 2024. “Deadpool and Wolverine” will be the only Marvel Studios theatrical release.
Iger expressed working hard to reduce output and focus more on quality, in line with his previous comments about moving away from former CEO Bob Chapek’s strategy to create more content for Disney+.
“This is especially true for Marvel movies and TV shows. Some upcoming projects reflect a previous emphasis on increasing output. We're gradually decreasing output to probably about two TV series a year from four, and reducing our film output from maybe four a year to two or at most three,” he stated.
“We've got a couple of good films in 2025 and then more ‘Avengers’, which is very exciting. Overall, I feel confident about our future projects and our team.
After “Deadpool and Wolverine,” Marvel Studios will release “Captain America: Brave New World” in February 2025 and “Thunderbolts” in May 2025, with “The Fantastic Four” coming in July 2025 and “Blade” in November 2025.
On TV, there are animated series like “Eyes of Wakanda” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” expected to arrive on Disney+ this year. Additionally, “Agatha,” a live-action spin-off of the popular series “WandaVision,” will release for Halloween this year. Also, “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Ironheart” live-action series are in the works.
