The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has advised drivers and the public to avoid rushing to buy Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.
In a message written by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., on Tuesday, the corporation stressed that the supply and delivery of petrol throughout the country have significantly improved.
Soneye mentioned that NNPC staff have closely checked gas stations in various states, including Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where the lines have notably decreased.
He reassured the public that this positive trend will continue to spread to other states in the next few days.
The statement states, "The Company wants to say that currently, it has more than 1.5 billion litres stock of PMS, which is equal to over 30 days sufficiency.
"The NNPC Ltd. is also working with relevant downstream agencies, such as the Nigeran Midstream & Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), labor unions in the sector and security operatives, to deal with hoarding and other unacceptable practices."
According to Soneye, this action demonstrates NNPC's dedication to ensuring a consistent petrol supply across the country and reducing any potential disruptions in the fuel distribution process.
Earlier, NNPCL stated that it has resolved concerns related to the current shortage of Premium Motor Spirit.
It added that the scarcity in certain regions of the country is due to logistical difficulties, which have already been resolved.
