Afrobeat music giant, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, caused a stir on social media when he criticized an Abuja-based barber and Wizkid fan, Callistus Okolie, with the Instagram handle @Kallystouch, for labeling him (Davido) as the third most prominent musician in the Nigerian music industry.
Responding to the photos Davido shared from his time in Dubai on Sunday, the barber wrote, “The only 3rd man in the music industry 003.”
Unhappy with Okolie’s description of him, the singer quickly replied, saying “@kallystouch I have saved your picture. I would have come to Abuja, and you would have cut my hair that is almost finished, but you like social media.”
He mentioned that the barber had missed his “generation’s blessing” because he (Davido) helped his last three barbers open their salons.
“My last three barbers, I opened shops for them. That is how you missed your generation’s blessing”, he added.
In another criticism of Davido on Monday, Okolie who tweets as @Kallystouch on X.com responded with a video of one of his customers receiving a good haircut, stating that Davido had missed an opportunity to get a haircut from the best barber in the FCT.
He wrote, “Davido just missed the opportunity to have a haircut from the best barber in Abuja.”
In another widely viewed video he shared on X.com, Okolie criticized Davido for his response, maintaining that Wizkid remains the biggest musician in the Nigerian music industry.
He added that Davido was not his helper and that he was not asking for help from anyone.
“FC does not beg, write it down, FC does not beg. Wizkid remains my 001 in the music industry, no cap. I did not say that to hurt anyone or to pull anybody down. Again, there is a statement Davido made that he was coming to Abuja and I would have been his barber, I would have been the person to cut his hair, how?”, he wrote.
He added, “Do you know me before that I would have been your barber? If not for my comment would you have replied to me? Let’s be realistic, do you know me before? You don’t know me before? FC is number one. Apart from that, I’m not begging anybody, Davido is not my helper, because whoever will help me will not stress me, Portable has said it before.”
This is the second time in less than a week that the singer would be coming under fire on social media.
Remember that on April 29, 2024, Wizkid caused a stir on the microblogging site, X.com, when he took jabs at Davido and Don Jazzy.
As a result of the controversial tweet, Wizkid trended as number 4 on Nigeria’s X trends.
During interactions with his followers, Wizkid ridiculed Davido for a recent leaked viral video where he was seen kneeling, crying, and pleading with someone believed to be a female associate.
