Experienced and controversial singer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, also known as Terry G, has once again caused a stir online by declaring Wizkid as the greatest Nigerian musician of all time.
However, he has stuck to his previous stance from last month, stating that Burna Boy is currently the top artist.
The music star, while appearing on The Honest Bunch Podcast with actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, Husband Material, and Toun Cole in April, shared his perspective on the enduring debate between Wizkid and Davido.
On his account with 11.1 thousand followers on Monday, the musician acknowledged the legendary reputation Wizkid has established, enjoyed, and maintained over the years.
He wrote, “Regarding my statement on the Honest Bunch Podcast that was posted a few weeks ago, my opinion remains the same. Yes, currently, Burna is the biggest, but when it comes to all-time, I’ll give it to Wiz. You can’t deny the accomplishments and the legendary status he has created for himself. WIZ is HIM!!!
“I'm not praising Wiz to gain attention, just recalling all he’s contributed to the CULTURE!!! I’m satisfied with what I have achieved, lol… but He’s HIM, I repeat!!!
“Forget the BIG 3, man, it’s just BIG WIZ… man is ON TOP!!! WIZ is HIM.”
In the podcast released in April, Terry G expressed his stance on the renowned musicians, including Davido.
“The Wizkid vs. Davido debate, to me, is pointless. Davido is the king of Africa. He has an African audience. He sings unapologetic African music,” Terry G had said in Pidgin English.
However, the singer was quick to differentiate Wizkid’s musical style from that of Burna Boy, whom he praised as the true “king” with both continental and international appeal.
“But Wizkid’s focus is on crossing over. His music doesn't really connect with us (Africans).
“Burna Boy is the one who has Africa and International. He is their king. Burna surpasses both of them,” Terry G asserted.
