French Paris Saint-Germain has made an initial offer of €90 million plus €40 million to acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Il Corriere dello Sport reports that PSG is leading the race to sign the 25-year-old, with Liverpool also planning to make a bid for the player soon.
Napoli is willing to sell Osimhen for a starting price of €150 million, while PSG has offered €90 million plus €40 million in bonuses.
If Osimhen moves to Liverpool, he could potentially fill the void left by Darwin Núñez's goal-scoring struggles or the potential departure of Mohamed Salah to Saudi clubs.
Osimhen, who is also being pursued by other top European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, extended his contract with Napoli until 2026, including a release clause of €150 million euros.
After winning the FIFA U17 World Cup, Osimhen announced his decision to leave Napoli at the end of the season, claiming that his next destination has already been determined.
However, rumors about his future continue to swirl, with no official confirmation of his next destination.
At PSG, Osimhen is anticipated to take the place of Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer. There are speculations that Mbappe has already agreed to purchase Sergio Ramos' mansion in Madrid.
Osimhen is set to transition smoothly into the French Ligue 1, having performed well for Lille by scoring 13 goals in 27 matches during the 2019–2020 season, which caught the attention of Napoli resulting in his €70 million transfer from The Mastiffs in the summer of 2020.
The former Wolfsburg striker has registered 64 goals in 105 appearances for Napoli, contributing 26 goals and four assists to help the club secure their first Scudetto in 33 years.
