The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the registration period for Direct Entry.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the board reassured Direct Entry candidates that there may be an extension.
However, the board did not specify a new end date for the registration, but it is expected to be communicated soon.
“Direct Entry registration will not be closing today. The Board is aware that its offices were closed for DE registration throughout the UTME exercise. Therefore, it will allow candidates to make up for those lost days,” the message stated.
Direct Entry registration is for candidates with A-level results, who are admitted to universities in the second year.
In 2023, JAMB introduced a new verification system for A’Level results as it found that registrants were finding ways to bypass the A’level qualifications required for DE candidates.
The examination body found that some candidates submitted fake results, prompting it to implement strict measures to verify the legitimacy of A-level results. This has also slowed down the registration process.
JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, also outlined 13 acceptable qualifications for Direct Entry Registration. These include a university diploma, an Ordinary National Diploma, a National Diploma, a Nigeria Certificate in Education, a Higher National Diploma, and a university degree.
