Huawei, a top company in information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices worldwide, has reaffirmed its dedication to speeding up digital transformation and offering a secure data storage solution in Nigeria.
A gathering was held in Lagos for Huawei IT Day where experts and partners met to talk about ICT trends, industry progress, and the company’s recent efforts to ensure a fully connected, smart world.
According to a statement by the company on Thursday, the event with the theme “Unleash Data Power, Towards the Intelligent Era” presented the Full Scenario Data Protection solution to handle the increasing threats to IT Infrastructure of various companies in Nigeria, as well as the lightweight Data Centre Solution to provide organizations an option of the virtual solution.
Terrens Wu, the Managing Director of the Enterprise Business Group, Huawei Nigeria, stated, “Nigeria is an important global and leading economy and a pioneer of innovation and reformation in Africa. It has leading infrastructures such as government, advanced financial and energy enterprises, and booming universities in Africa. All of these areas require joint efforts to drive digital transformation and accelerate the development of the digital economy.
“As industrial digitalisation accelerates, the consequences of data loss become increasingly serious, and industry development poses higher requirements for data protection.
“Huawei thus provides full-scenario data protection solutions, including full disaster recovery for core data, quick backup for warm data, warm archiving for cold data, and ransomware protection for sensitive data.”
The Managing Director explained that Huawei Storage is the key component of digital infrastructure and the foundation of an intelligent world. “We have been investing in the storage field for over 20 years. Currently, we have 12 R&D centers around the world, more than 4,000 R&D engineers, and more than 3,000 storage patents,” he added.
In the discussion, Mahmud Jubril of Federal Inland Revenue Service ICT talked about the digitalisation of FIRS activities, emphasizing that Huawei played a critical role in the process.
He said “We bought first set of servers from Huawei in 2013, and we were able to create our own private cloud. We used the first sever from 2013-2022. Huawei’s efforts cannot be overemphasised.”
