A video that became popular online has shown a 60-year-old man, known as Mr. Kenneth, being tortured to death by unknown men during a dispute over a property in Nza Ozubulu, Anambra State.
As stated in a post by police reform advocate, Harrison Gwamnishu, on X, Kenneth had sold a water tank in the family house to resolve some family issues, an action that allegedly led his younger brother to have him arrested with the assistance of a vigilante group.
The post alleged that Kenneth suffered through hours of torture, constantly begging his attackers, saying “What did I do?” while they accused him of theft. Regrettably, he died from his injuries during the incident.
The video seen by PUNCH Online shows the man being physically assaulted by two people using sticks. The victim, dressed only in shorts and no shirt, had his hands tied behind his back while crying out in pain.
The footage revealed a total of five men present at the scene, with two of them actively beating the restrained man. One of the attackers was observed wearing a Manchester United jersey during the brutal assault.
The post also stated, “I urge Governor Soludo and Anambra State Police to take appropriate action and ensure these perpetrators do not escape justice.
“At present, his wife and children are living in fear and facing intimidation as threats have been made to harm them if they continue to seek justice for the death of Mr. Kenneth.”
“People of Nza Ozubulu, Anambra State, should not turn a blind eye to this case and should protect the deceased’s wife and children,” Gwamnishu expressed his sorrow.
