The Edo State government is asking for the quick completion and opening of the Monee International Market in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area. They want to improve the economic growth and infrastructure development.
During an important meeting at the Secretariat in Benin City, the call was made to speed up the completion and opening of the Monee International Market.
At the meeting, the Managing Director of Edo State Investment Promotion Office, Ease of Doing Business Secretariat, Mr. Kelvin Uwaibi, and Chairman of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Dr. Eric Osayande, led the meeting and stressed the importance of finishing strong in Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration.
During the meeting, government officials pledged to help the market get finished quickly and promised to address concerns from market stakeholders, including building link roads.
Uwaibi confirmed the government’s dedication to progress and development, saying, “We want the market to be finished and opened as soon as possible. We are committed to ensuring the success of traders and the overall growth of Edo State.”
Recognizing the role of market owners in the project, the Secretary to Edo State Ease of Doing Business Council assured that the government would provide necessary approvals and support to ensure compliance with building plans and specifications. They also mentioned that similar markets will be helped in Edo North and Edo Central.
In his response, the Chairman of Ikpoba Okha council expressed his commitment to the success of the project, mentioning his involvement since its beginning.
He urged market stakeholders to communicate their needs and promised strong support from the local government.
Members of the market’s Board of Trustees and representatives from the Association of Electrical Union, Association of Electronic Union, and Association of Building Materials Union praised the government’s support and pledged to speed up ongoing work to meet agreed-upon timelines.
As discussions continued, both government and market stakeholders remained committed to achieving the swift completion and opening of the Monee International Market, promoting economic prosperity and development in Edo State.
