A user named @mooyeeeeeee is trying to get justice for a girl named Maryam Hassan who was bullied by her classmates at Lead British International School in Abuja.
On Monday night, the user posted an urgent message with two videos, asking people to share it so they can help Maryam get justice.
The post asked people to help Maryam get justice after she was bullied by her classmates at Lead British School in Abuja.
One of the videos shows Hassan being slapped repeatedly by another female student while asking “Who broke my heart?”.
Another video shows the victim sitting next to a male classmate who says “I spoilt her relationship”.
The post has received over 1,000 comments as of now.
Many people who saw the post condemned the incident and want the school authorities to investigate.
Another user, @knownso1, said, “This is so sad to watch, no matter what happened, she doesn’t deserve such treatment from these rascals.
The user also suggested that she should have fought back and not let them treat her like a coward.
@Lefter_11 advised the victim's parents to report the incident to the police.
He also said, “Her parents should involve the police and report those children to the school authorities. Some of us who went to public schools would not hesitate to let our parents know if someone bullied or beat us, and we would deal with them with our friends.
Another user, @sadiqGsadiq, posted a screenshot suggesting that the school has a bullying problem.
The screenshot also alleged that another student of the school cut her classmate with a knife but was only given a two-day suspension.
The school doesn’t take serious actions against bullying, and the punishment they use is not effective, according to the screenshot.
The school tries to hide things like this from parents, and when students tell their parents, they often don't believe them, so they need people to share the post and bring awareness to stop it.
The user mentioned a specific incident where a girl brought a knife or a paper cutter and used it to hurt a boy, but her punishment was only a two-day suspension because her parents allegedly paid the school.
The school has not officially responded to the incident at the time of this report.
Ngozi Nwaokoma, the Head of Corporate Affairs and Business Development at the Abuja branch, did not respond to the messages left on her phone either.
However, when the school was checked, it was found to be one of the most expensive in Nigeria, with a yearly fee of N1.5 million according to Legit News.
It was founded in September 2007 and currently has two additional locations in Abuja, as well as branches in Ibadan, Oyo State, and Osogbo, Osun State.
At the moment, the Abuja branch follows a British-Nigerian curriculum focused on Secondary, Cambridge, and IGSCE education.
