Walmart has declared that it will start 18 new Walmart Health places in Texas, with 10 scheduled for the Dallas area.
The Bentonville, Arkansas-based company also revealed the launch of its 50th Walmart Health place in a statement published by Business Wire. Walmart Health stores can be found in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, and Texas.
Dr. David Carmouche, senior vice president of healthcare delivery at Walmart, stated, “The opening of Walmart Health in Sugar Land, Texas today marks the 50th location in the United States, a significant milestone in our effort to increase access to integrated care. We are thrilled to expand Walmart Health’s presence in Texas starting in April in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. With the population of Texas still growing, these Walmart Health centers will help meet the demand for easily accessible care for all seniors and their families.”
Walmart Health centers provide various services such as primary care, dental, X-ray, mental health, labs, and telehealth services. These centers are located next to Walmart Supercenters and are about 5,400 square feet. They are equipped with cutting-edge technology and are designed to offer customers simple access to healthcare.
The large retailer began building Walmart Health centers in 2019. The centers provide services seven days a week and some services are available 24 hours a day. In addition to offering care, the locations also create opportunities for well-paying jobs that will help enhance communities. Visits will start at just $49. The centers feature licensed physicians, dentists, and skilled care providers and accept all health insurance plans. They also offer care for individuals without insurance coverage.
U.S. Census Bureau data reveals shows that Dallas County has the highest proportion of uninsured individuals in the state. The data indicates that nearly 25% of Dallas County residents lack health insurance. Median income in Dallas County is also lower than in many other counties in the state. The data suggests that the average income of a Dallas County resident is just over $70,000 annually, indicating that options such as Walmart Health centers could be beneficial to the community.
