The Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has started giving out food support to the people of the state, as part of the government's effort to lessen the impact of the economic decline on the people.
The Governor, represented by the State Deputy Governor, Joel Oyibo Salifu, mentioned that giving out the food support from the strategic grain reserve of the Federal Government shows that all levels of government understand the challenges faced by Nigerians due to the current tough economic conditions.
Ododo stated that his administration sees it as a duty and honor to lead collective efforts in providing relief to those in need throughout Kogi State.
The distribution of the support aligns with the commitment of President Bola Tinubu's administration to respond decisively to the need for interventions to alleviate the difficulties faced by Nigerians. The government and people of Kogi State will continue to support programs and policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
He also mentioned that providing grains to alleviate economic hardship in the state demonstrates the unwavering commitment of his administration to the welfare of every citizen, especially in tough times.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a remarkable display of compassion and solidarity in approving the distribution of grains from the strategic reserve to feed the people of Nigeria.
Ododo emphasized that this round of food support, which includes maize, millet, sorghum, and garri, is for vulnerable members of all communities in the 21 local government areas of the state.
He warned against the diversion of the grains, emphasizing that a committee has been tasked with overseeing the allocation of the grains to all communities and ensuring that only those in most need receive them, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or political affiliations.
The Governor praised the people of the state for their invaluable contribution to the current peace and security, and urged them to continue supporting the government as efforts are intensified to ease the hardships caused by the rising cost of living in the state.
He praised the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Emergency Management Agency, the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the state Social Investment Programme Agency, the State Emergency Management Agency, members of the state committee on the distribution of support, and security agencies for their dedication and tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of the items and a smooth distribution to communities in the state.
