The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has denied a flyer that was supposedly from one of his wives, Mrs Ngozi Adeleke, welcoming Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to the state.
Adeleke said the flyer from Ngozi was not real.
Adeleke also stated that there was no disagreement about which of his two wives would host the First Lady during her visit to Osun on Tuesday, where she will inaugurate the Alternative High School For Girls at Oke D.O, Ilesha Road, Osogbo.
Shortly after a press statement from the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Kolapo Alimi, announcing Tinubu’s upcoming visit was made public, two separate flyers from Mr Titilola and Ngozi Adeleke, both wives of the governor, welcoming the president's wife to the state, went viral on the internet.
Both women were referred to as the First Lady of Osun State on the two flyers, raising concerns about who would welcome Tinubu between the two wives of the Osun State Governor.
But clarifying the matter, the spokesperson for the state governor, Olawale Rasheed, in a statement obtained in Osogbo on Monday, said Titilola Adeleke is the First Lady and would receive Tinubu during the visit.
He also said the flyer circulating from the Office of Ngozi Adeleke was fake and the person behind it had been arrested.
He also said Ngozi did not authorize the flyer, as it was created and shared by individuals who wanted to cause discord and confusion.
The statement mentioned, “The attention of Mr Governor has been drawn to fake news in circulation about disagreement over which of the Governor’s two wives is to host the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her official visit to the State tomorrow.
“For clarification, Chief (Mrs) Titilola Adeleke, the First Lady of Osun State, is officially hosting the First Lady of the Republic tomorrow as directed by Mr Governor. There is no confusion on this official position.
“The state government under Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to receive the First Lady and her team in Osun State.”
