Nigeria Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays for Paris FC, is in the running for the Goalkeeper of the Season award in the French women's top league. The league revealed the nominees for various awards to celebrate the end of the season, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The nominees for the 2023/2024 season were revealed on Monday, with two games remaining. Nnadozie will compete with Christiane Ender from Lyon and Katarzyna Kierdrzynek from PSG for the award.
Since she arrived in France in 2020, the 23-year-old has proven herself as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe. She has the highest number of penalty saves among elite goalkeepers in both men's and women's top leagues since the start of the 2023/24 season.
Nnadozie has made seven saves from penalties, two in the league and five during her club's impressive performance in the Women's Champions League. Ines Benyahia from Le Havre, Louna Ribadeira from Nnadozie’s Paris FC, and Thiniba Samoura from PSG are also in the running for the Revelation of The Season award.
The Coach of The Season nominees include the top three coaches in the standings: Sonia Bompastor from Lyon, Jocelyn Precheur from PSG, and Sandrine Soubeyrand from Paris FC. The winners of the awards will be revealed on April 29.
With two matches remaining in the French women's league season, Lyon leads the table with 58 points, nine points ahead of PSG, while Paris FC, where Nnadozie plays, holds third place with 41 points, trailing PSG by eight points.
This season, Paris FC advanced to the group stage of the Champions League and are well-positioned to return next season as they are 10 points ahead of Reims.
