Netflix said on Monday that it will show “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” made from the best-selling young adult mystery book by Holly Jackson, later this year. The lead role of Pip Fitz-Amobi will be played by Emma Myers, known for “Wednesday” and “Family Switch,” alongside newcomer Zain Iqbal as Ravi.
The official description of the show says, “Five years ago, Andie Bell was killed by her boyfriend Sal Singh. The police and everyone in town believe he did it. But Pip Fitz-Amobi is not convinced and is determined to find out the truth. If Sal Singh is not the killer, how far will they go to stop Pip from discovering the truth?”
The six-episode season is currently in post-production, adapted by Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells, known for “Good Posture.” Each episode will last about 45 minutes.
The BBC produced the series, which will debut in the UK and Ireland on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. It is produced by Moonage Pictures, in a partnership with ZDFneo and Netflix.
The cast also includes Anna Maxwell Martin, Gary Beadle, Mathew Baynton, India Lillie Davies, Rahul Pattni, Henry Ashton, Mitu Panicucci, Orla Hill, Ephraim O.P. Sampson, Carla Woodcock, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi, Jackson Bews, Jessica Webber, Matthew Khan, Georgia Aaron, Oliver Wickham, Adam Astill and Annabel Mullion.
The executive producers are Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch, Frith Tiplady, Lucy Richer, Danielle Scott-Haughton, Jonas Melcher, Dolly Wells, Holly Jackson, Poppy Cogan, and Florence Walker as producer.
Poppy Cogan is the lead writer, with Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke, and Ruby Thomas.
Moonage Pictures has also produced “Obsession” and “The Gentleman.”
