Protesters gathered at the Red Goose Saloon in Fort Worth on Sunday to demonstrate against the bar’s Disney-themed drag brunch that allowed minors to attend.
As previously noted by The Dallas Express, the venue has been hosting weekly drag shows on Sunday afternoons where minors are permitted.
“We suggest that our audience be over 16 due to the language, musical content, and suggestive humor. However, we are proud to offer an all-inclusive brunch. If you wish to bring your children, you may do so at your own discretion,” show organizers advised.
Previous versions of the show included sexually suggestive dancing and performers clad in lingerie, receiving cash tips from attendees. included Kelly Neidert, president of Texas Coalition for Kids, organized Sunday’s protest against the Disney-themed drag show because minors were allowed.
“All drag shows should have an age restriction of 18 and above. The organizers of this show clearly targeted children by making it Disney-themed. We will continue protesting this venue until they cease allowing kids to attend,” Neidert told
In addition to the issue of whether drag is appropriate for kids, some critics have criticized drag, alleging it to be misogynistic. DX.

Local drag performer Emeka Bless previously countered such descriptions when speaking with
“It’s not all about what you see in the media. We’re not after your kids or anything like that,” the drag performer stated. “We’re just here to support everybody. … It’s empowering. It’s freedom of expression. … We enjoy wearing makeup, wigs, and entertaining a crowd.” DX.

Members of the
New Columbia Movement also joined. They exhibited a banner saying, “We Want God.” The sold-out event attracted a
audience, with some individuals wearing Disney-themed hats or clothing. However, sizeable did not observe any obviously young children enter the venue. DX reached out to the Red Goose Saloon regarding the event but did not receive a response.
