The famous screenwriter and playwright David Mamet insists that his children achieved success based on their talent, not their connections. His daughter Zosia is well-known for her role on “Girls” alongside other well-connected actresses.
He talked about his book “Everywhere an Oink Oink” during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. during the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, Mamet admitted that his daughters learned from being on set with him.
Mamet believes his daughters have succeeded based on their own merit, without any special privileges.
“Nobody ever gave my kids a job because of who they were related to,” Mamet declared, while not acknowledging other potential advantages they may have had other than getting a job directly from him.
Zosia’s first professional acting role was in the David Mamet-directed “Spartan” in 2004, which also featured her less successful sister Clara. Zosia has recently appeared in “Madame Web” and “The Flight Attendant.” Clara was a regular on the 2012 ABC series “The Neighbors.”
Mamet criticized diversity initiatives and expressed frustration with new diversity requirements for movies to be eligible for the Oscars.
Mamet expressed disgust with DEI initiatives, calling them fascist totalitarianism.
Mamet's political views have shifted towards conservatism over the years, despite his hyper-masculine style of writing. He now supports former President Donald Trump.
