The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, expressed his sorrow at the passing of Yemi Adefulu, who served as a Commissioner in the state and was the current Chairman of the Governing Council of Tai Solarin College of Education, now known as Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science and Technology.
Adefulu, originally from Ilishan Remo in Ikenne Local Government, was a knowledgeable lawyer and former student leader at the University of Lagos in 1971. He reportedly passed away early Saturday at the age of 79.
He was known as the youngest commissioner in the state's history during the time of the first civilian governor, Bisi Onabanjo, from 1979 to 1984.
He initially served as the Commissioner for Forestry and was later moved to the Ministry of Health.
During a visit to the deceased's residence at Shonibare Estate, Maryland, Lagos on Sunday, Abiodun described the loss of the respected politician as a significant one for the state and the country.
On Sunday, Abiodun, in a statement from his verified Facebook page, described Adefulu as an outstanding figure known for his legal expertise and unwavering dedication to Nigeria.
Abiodun mentioned, “I visited the family of Prince Yemi Adefulu, MFR, who held the esteemed position of Chairman of the Governing Council of Sikiru Adetona College of Education, Science, and Technology, Omu-Ijebu, to offer my sincere condolences.
“Prince Adefulu was a distinguished legal practitioner, a revered statesman, and an experienced litigator, whose recent passing has left a profound void.
“In my heartfelt message of sympathy, I expressed my deepest condolences to his mourning family, the Ilishan community, and the esteemed Governing Council of Adetona College of Education, Science, and Technology, Omu-Ijebu.
“I stressed that Prince Yemi Adefulu, MFR, was an exemplary figure, known for his legal expertise and unwavering commitment to Nigeria. His remarkable contributions to his profession, community, and the entire state will always be valued and held in high regard.”
