A pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God, Olugbenga Olawore, who was abducted at the Maya area of Lanlate-Eruwa road in Oyo State, was freed on Sunday.
The PUNCH stated that Olawore and a small group of people were taken on Thursday at the Maya area of Lanlate-Eruwa road, all within the boundaries of the state.
The state's Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, announced this in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday.
He mentioned, “Our people can be assured that our state's security forces are fully active and attentive to their duties.
“The State Government is effectively overseeing and assessing the security situation within its borders.
“Since the occurrence was reported, the government has been in close communication with the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, his team, and our security teams, and all parties have taken the necessary actions as usual to ensure the safety of our citizens’ lives and property.” He emphasized.
Oyelade restated that the government remained the most peaceful state in the country.
All attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, for his comments were unsuccessful as his phone number was not reachable.
