Afolabi Orekoya, a member of the staff for the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladipupo Adebutu, stated on Saturday that his boss would never make any false statements about his roots.
Orekoya shared this information in a statement provided to reporters on Saturday.
Orekoya explained that it was important to address the recent criticism from the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Arabambi Abayomi, who accused the former Remo federal lawmaker of falsely claiming ties to the Egbas.
The media aide criticized Arabambi for consistently turning everything into a political issue in an attempt to gain popularity.
The statement revealed that Adebutu recently commemorated the 92nd anniversary of his great-grandfather, Pa Alimi Adebutu, who lived, passed away, and was laid to rest at Ijeun Akoni in Odeda Local Government, which is an undeniable fact.
The statement partially stated, “It's surprising how the news that Hon. Adebutu’s great-grandfather passed away and was buried at Ijeun Akoni in Odeda Local Government has become a major concern for certain individuals.
“Fortunately, Adebutu didn't fabricate his connection to Ijeun Akoni, unlike some individuals who made unsupported claims about being natives of Ogun State.
“If Arabambi had understood Adebutu's explanation, he wouldn't have made a mistake with his unnecessary and unfounded statement.”
