There was a clash at Ward 1 at Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, between rival supporters of two people competing to be the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Ondo State Governorship election on November 16.
Approved party members, who had gathered in large numbers to take part in the candidate selection process, ran away when violence broke out among the rival groups.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accreditation and election process had not started when the violence happened as voters ran for safety.
One of the approved voters, who wanted to remain anonymous, told NAN that one of the representatives of a candidate came to the ward, took the validation and accreditation papers and left.
“One of the reps came here, grabbed the validation and accreditation papers and fled the venue in his car.
“They pursued him, but could not catch him. This caused the violence,” he said.
The security agents at the ward were unable to control the violence and everyone fled the scene.
