Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has requested the Federal Government to help his administration deal with insecurity and frequent flooding in certain areas of the state.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, revealed this in a statement on Friday.
As per the statement, Ododo made the plea when he met with a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission at the Government House, Lokoja on Thursday.
“Because Kogi borders 10 other states and serves as a transit state, it urgently requires increased financial support from the Federal Government to tackle the challenges of insecurity and flooding, which could affect neighboring states if not addressed,” he emphasized.
Therefore, Ododo has requested enhanced funding from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission through the Stabilisation Fund to address emerging issues in the state as part of the ongoing special intervention by the federal government.
During his speech, the leader of the delegation, Bako Shettima, clarified that the team was in the state to verify the need for the disbursement of the Stabilisation Fund based on the state government’s request.
“We are here to assess the information presented to us and evaluate the justification for the disbursement of the stabilisation fund requested by the state government,” he stated.
He mentioned that the commission would review the presented issues and take proactive measures to meet the demands of the Kogi State government.
Ododo later accompanied the RMAFC delegation on a tour of various ongoing projects in the state, including the 9km Zone 8-Zango-GYB Road, 5.5km Zone 8-Crusher Road, and the refurbishment workshop at the Kogi State Agricultural Development Project complex in Felele, among others.
