Meta, the company responsible for Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has made its AI service, “Meta AI,” available in 12 countries beyond the United States.
Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Canada, Australia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and several other countries are now included in the list.
The release, currently in English, is intended to enhance connections and provide users with new creative, expressive, and productivity tools directly within these popular apps.
In a blog post on Thursday, Meta stated that since its initial introduction at last year’s Connect event, Meta AI has developed into a versatile tool that seamlessly integrates into users’ daily lives.
With Meta Llama 3 technology at its core, Meta AI enables users to complete tasks, gain knowledge, nurture creativity, and establish connections effortlessly.
A portion of the statement mentioned, “We’re introducing Meta AI in English in over a dozen countries outside of the US. Now, people will have access to Meta AI in Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe—and we’re just getting started.
“Due to our latest enhancements with Meta Llama 3, Meta AI is more intelligent, faster, and more enjoyable than ever before,” the company noted.
Meta mentioned that its new AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that anyone can use for free, and it’s available in more countries across their apps.
With Meta AI integrated in feeds, chats, searches, and more across their apps, users can complete tasks and access real-time information without leaving the app.
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta, stated, “With our expansion of Meta AI in English to new countries, we are excited to share our next-generation assistant with even more people and make it work for you by providing real-time information through our seamless search integration in the apps you know and love.
“We’re enhancing Meta AI with our new state-of-the-art Llama 3 AI model, which we’re sharing the source code for. We also developed some unique creation features, such as the ability to animate photos.
“Meta AI produces high-quality images so quickly that it creates and updates them in real-time as you’re typing. It will also generate a playback video of your creation process.”
The emergence of AI has been groundbreaking, with major companies like Meta, Microsoft, and Google introducing various products.
Nevertheless, experts have raised significant concerns about AI, such as lack of transparency, bias and discrimination, privacy concerns, ethical dilemmas, security risks, concentration of power, and the long-term risks associated with the development of artificial general intelligence that surpasses human intelligence.
