A senior statesman and previous governor of former Oyo State, Dr Omololu Olunloyo, has spoken out about the rumor of his death, stating that he is still alive.
Olunloyo, who talked to The PUNCH reporter at his Molete residence in Ibadan, the state capital, on Friday, mentioned that he was in good health.
Previously, some news platforms (not The PUNCH) reported the rumor of the death of the senior statesman.
However, Olunloyo, stated, “I’m still here, not yet gone.”
He also expressed concern about the rumor and questioned who could live forever, emphasizing that “Those spreading news of death and the person thought to be dead will all pass away one day.
“I’ve been fortunate. My father passed away at 42, while my mother lived to be 102. I’m 89. I’ve exceeded the expected lifespan.”
The senior statesman also described how the rumor of his death spread across various news platforms on June 7, 2022.
He mentioned that the rumor mongers alleged that he had passed away at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
A few days later, the family released a statement, affirming that he was not deceased but was dealing with health issues due to old age, and requested Nigerians to pray for his recovery.
