Adewale Emmanuel, also known as Mayorkun, an award-winning singer and songwriter, filed a N1 billion lawsuit against Precious Kingsley, aka Nicki DaBarbie, a popular TikTok influencer. Mayorkun is taking legal action against Nicki DaBarbie, a TikTok influencer, by suing her for N1 billion.
Nicki DaBarbie accused Mayorkun and singer Skiibii of being ritualists and trying to exploit her for occultic rites. She claimed she escaped after intense prayer.
Nicki DaBarbie shared a video on her Instagram reels, claiming she was at Skibii’s residence and that the individuals who harmed her would press legal charges against her if she spoke about it. She also mentioned being recorded at the hospital to make it seem like she was on drugs and threatened to shut down her social media accounts.
She further discussed being treated unfairly and expressed fear that her name would be tarnished to protect Skiibii.
She narrated her experience and expressed concern that she might die and not have enough evidence to support her claims.
She explained that she went for a boat cruise with no bad intentions and emphasized that it was not about money or being a prostitute.
In response, Mayorkun sued Nicki DaBarbie for making defamatory statements about him.
In the legal documents signed by his lawyers, Mayorkun pointed out the specific posts where he was accused of being a cultist and causing bodily harm to Nicki DaBarbie.
The legal document referenced an Instagram post made by Nicki DaBarbie, categorically labeling Mayorkun as a ritualist and accusing him of causing bodily harm.
It also stated that Mayorkun had never met Nicki DaBarbie privately or had any personal dealings with her, emphasizing that her statements were unfounded and frivolous.
The document highlighted the financial loss and emotional trauma caused to Mayorkun as a result of the accusations, stating that it has damaged his reputation.
The document emphasized that Nicki DaBarbie's accusations not only constitute defamation but also violate Mayorkun's rights under Nigerian law.
The former artist of Davido Music Worldwide then requested Barbie to remove the offensive post from all her social media accounts within 24 hours. create a video and written apology to be published in two national newspapers, stop making more harmful comments about him, and pay him at least N1 billion for the emotional pain his actions caused him (Mayorkun).
