A chief from Sansani Chiefdom, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Abdulmutallib Sansani, was shot and killed by unidentified gunmen on Thursday night.
A person in the town who did not want to be named because of the sensitive nature of the matter said the king was killed at about 10:25pm after they prayed together.
The gunmen followed him to one of his houses outside the palace and killed him.
He left the palace after prayers around 7pm and was killed a few hours later.
It is suspected that the gunmen were keeping an eye on him, eventually killing him in one of his houses away from the main palace, a source suggested.
