WEST HAZLETON — Police in West Hazleton recently provided details about a shooting close to the West Hazleton elementary/middle school earlier this week.
The police believe that the shooting occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Monday on a sports field behind the school and may have involved local criminal gangs. They have identified at least two young people and are pressing charges against them.
Authorities stated that approximately seven shots were fired while a youth baseball game was ongoing.
No one was reported injured.
The police suggested that Monday's shooting might be connected to other gunfire in and around West Hazleton since January.
